Road safety operation on Brighton Road, Worthing last week for

Neighbourhood Policing Week.

Officers and PCSOs from the Neighbourhood Policing Team, supported by colleagues from the Fatal 5 Unit, were deployed following concerns from local residents about speeding and driver behaviour.

During the operation, one of the highest speeds recorded was 53mph in a 30mph zone, almost double the legal speed limit!

As a result of the day's enforcement activity:

6 drivers reported for using a mobile phone while driving

1 driver reported for using a mobile phone while supervising a learner driver

3 drivers reported for not wearing a seatbelt

4 drivers reported for having no insurance

2 drivers reported for having no driving licence

17 drivers reported for exceeding the 30mph speed limit

Vehicle seizures:

- 2 cars seized

-1 motorbike seized

-1 e-scooter seized
